EA Still Hasn’t Figured Out Digital Distribution

Richard Cobbett has had an interesting experience with EA’s download service this week.

Dear Richard

Thank you for pre-ordering Mass Effect from EA Store. We are committed to providing the best possible customer experience on EA Store and as such we have decided to remove the pre-load option from the download, as it has been discovered that it will actually cause an additional 4 - 5 hour delay on the download time, due to the un-encryption method.

The game will therefore be released for download at 00.00 (Central European Time) on Thursday 5th June. At this point it will appear in your EA Download Manager and you can start the download then (it will take around 4 hours depending on your connection speed). This means you should be able to play Mass Effect much sooner.

We appreciate your understanding on this matter, and as a valued EA Store customer we would like to offer you 50% off your next purchase on EA Store (valid until 31st December 2008). Simply enter this code [SNIPPED] in the basket the next time you make a purchase to apply the code.

Best regards

The EA Store Team
